The Tomie dePoala Art Education Fund at the Currier Museum of Art Accepts Support from NHTrust

NHTrust has made a gift of $2,000 in support of the Tomie dePaola Art Education Fund at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester. The Currier Museum established the Tomie dePaola Art Education Fund to support art education for young people of all backgrounds. dePaola knew art to be an important avenue of discovery and growth. The Currier Museum shares dePaola’s belief in the transformative power of art and honors his legacy by making art accessible to children in our region.

Tomie dePaola  (1934–2020) passed away in spring 2020. dePaola wrote and illustrated some 270 children’s books over his 50-year career and was a longtime resident of New Hampshire.

The Currier Museum of Art’s collection holds more than 100 works by Tomie dePaola. This small exhibition now on view at the museum celebrates the artist’s life and legacy through a selection of these illustrations.

“NHTrust is pleased to support the Tomie dePaola Art Education Fund and their mission to bring art education to young people of all backgrounds,” noted Paul Provost,  President of NHTrust. “We are excited about supporting emerging local artists and performers, and The Currier Museum of Art’s mission to connect art with diverse audiences, from its neighborhood to international and digital visitors. We support organizations that help make our communities better places to live for all of us, and the Currier Museum of Art is certainly doing that.”

The Currier Museum aims to be nimble and creative in using its distinctive collection of historical and contemporary art. The museum teaches art as a way to understand the creative process in all fields – a traditional practice in American museums which the Currier continues to believe as vital to their role today. Local Businesses who wish to support the Currier Museum of Art are encouraged to so.
